Cotton Sarees for Everyday Wear

Cotton is the best fabric for the hot Indian summers. They keep the wearer cool while giving a smart, stylish look. They protect the skin from the harmful rays of the sun and do not lead to any skin issues unlike other fabrics. Cotton sarees are suitable for both everyday wear and special occasions. There are cotton sarees available that have heavy artwork. There are also others that have minimal work which are more suited for daily usage.

A large percentage of women wear cotton sarees to work every day. It makes for great formal wear in schools, offices, colleges, aviation, hospitality industry etc. There are several reasons why these sarees are so popular all across the country. Just like the other kinds of sarees, these sarees accentuate the femininity of a woman. They make a woman look elegant and sophisticated.

Cotton sarees are available for women of all age groups and of all heights and shapes. While the other types of sarees might not be suitable for all kinds of figures, cotton sarees suit all. In India, there are several different types of cotton sarees. Some of the most popular types are gadwal, sambalpuri, jamdani and doria city among others. They belong to the different parts of the country. While Gadwal belongs to western India, Jamdani sarees are made in Uttar Pradesh. Sambalpuri sarees are woven in Orissa and Doria City sarees are designed in Rajasthan. Cotton sarees can be printed, hand painted, hand-woven etc. Some sarees are embellished with stones, zari work, pearl, semi-precious stones, beads, sequence, gotta, block print, thread work, mirror work etc.

Over the years, wearing of these sarees has undergone several changes. While some prefer to wear it the traditional way, there are several other innovative styles of draping the fabric too. Different parts of the country have different ways of wearing the saree. There is the Bengali style, Maharashtrian style, Gujarati style, Tamilian style etc. of draping a saree. Indian designers have experimented with different styles and have come up with innovative ways of wearing it.

Cotton sarees make for a skin-friendly option. They are an ideal choice for office wear as they give a crisp and neat look. They can also be worn to festivals, other events, parties and even casually. These sarees look best when teamed with a matching cotton blouse and accessories such as ethnic jewelry and light makeup during summers.
