Who’s Your ‘Beauty Becky?’

Becky told me that life as a Human Resource Clerk would soon bore me to death, and make me wake up one day with massive career regret. “Career? What’s that? I’m just working my job,” I said.

“That’s the problem,” she scolded. “You can write. Yet one thing is holding you back, and you need to get off your butt and do it.”

Now, sitting across from Becky’s beautiful mahogany desk in her fancy World Trade Center office, I was all ears. Was I getting a great promotion? Going to Hollywood to write movie scripts?

“You’re going back to school, whatever it takes, no excuses,” she demanded.

My life beyond that moment wasn’t as simple as when Becky laid out my life in those ten little words. But I followed her advice and have never looked back.

So, who is your ‘Becky?’ Is someone encouraging you to enroll in beauty school? Do others compliment your trendy hairstyles, attractive manicures, make-up techniques, or even healthy-looking skin? Do strangers ask you where you buy your products or if you have ideas on what would look good on them? Do they ask about your hair color? Have you listened?
